# Seaglide

A handheld thruster for swimming fast underwater. Two fans spin the opposite way and pull you through the water. It runs on your stamina, not on fuel.

## Recipe

![Seaglide recipe](https://1371052705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FV22FKtcNjWW37kUFLLdR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-7f06a7acd993b2ac04f7f74aabb286c1ffbf2176%2Fseaglide.png?alt=media)

## How to use it

Hold it and hold left-click. The fans spin up and pull you forward, up to about 9 blocks per second (`seaglideMaxSpeed`, with `seaglidePower` setting how hard it pulls).

* **Breaking the surface:** at speed, it throws you out of the water in a leap. Aim up before you surface to fly higher.
* **Jumping while sprinting on land:** it vaults you forward. Just holding it is enough, it does not need to run.
* **With an elytra:** hold left-click while gliding and it pulls you through the air, at about a quarter of the speed of a firework rocket (`seaglideFlightSpeed` in the server config, about 8.5 blocks per second by default).

## Food

It slowly drains your hunger while it runs, twice as fast when gliding, and cuts out once you are starving. You cannot attack while it runs.

With `seaglideUsesBacktank` on in the server config, it runs on the air of a Create Backtank you wear instead of your hunger, using `seaglideAirPerSecond` air each second (twice that while gliding). A plain Copper Backtank holds 900.

## Good to know

* The camera shake and speed lines at full speed can be turned off with `seaglideScreenEffects` in the client config.

**Details to look for**

* You hold it with both hands, and your character stretches out behind it while it pulls you.
* At full speed the camera shakes slightly and the edges of the screen darken, with speed lines.
* Breaking the surface plays a real leap: legs launch, fold at the top, and stretch out again for the dive.
