A small outboard motor that burns fuel. Sit at the tiller and drive.

## Recipe

![Boat Engine recipe](https://1371052705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FV22FKtcNjWW37kUFLLdR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ddd9dec486812d304c2b1274b39325ca1cccfbc4%2Fboat_engine.png?alt=media)

## How to use it

1. Mount it at the stern of a ship, with the propeller in the water. The space for the propeller must be free.
2. Sneak + right-click to open the fuel slot and put in fuel. Anything that burns in a furnace works: coal, charcoal, wood, a lava bucket (you get the bucket back).
3. Right-click it to sit at the tiller.

At the tiller:

* **Forward / Back:** throttle. Reverse is slower than forward.
* **Left / Right:** turns the propeller and steers the boat.
* **Hold right-click and move the mouse:** sets the speed limit, from 0 to 15.
* **Sneak:** let go of the tiller.

The engine spools up and slows down progressively, it does not jump to full speed.

## Good to know

* No fuel, no thrust. The tiller tells you when the tank is dry.
* Only one player can be at the helm.
* Its power is `enginePower` in the High Seas server config, and the share left in reverse is `engineReversePower`.

**Details to look for**

* At the tiller, your character holds the lever with one arm back, and the lever turns up to 20 degrees as you steer.
* The propeller spins slowly at idle and faster with the throttle. The engine has separate idle and running sounds, and puffs smoke out of its exhaust while it burns.
* Sneak while placing it to flip it, like Create's directional blocks.
