# Anchor

A heavy weight to keep your boat in place.

## Recipe

![Anchor recipe](https://1371052705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FV22FKtcNjWW37kUFLLdR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-cefd10f7876a9d90c28ef06c414b5d51e50114c5%2Fanchor.png?alt=media)

## How to use it

1. Hang the anchor from your ship with a [Steel Cable](/create-deep-seas-wiki/deep-seas/cables-and-tools/steel-cable.md) on a Rope Winch: right-click the anchor with the cable, then the winch. The anchor becomes its own small ship, tied to yours.
2. Let the winch out. The anchor drops.
3. Reel it back in to weigh anchor.

While it hangs, the anchor is light and barely changes how your boat handles. As soon as it touches the bottom, it becomes very heavy and pins the ship in place.

## Good to know

* Anchors only take Steel Cables, not normal rope.
* If big ships still drift at anchor, raise `anchorHoldingMass` in the High Seas server config.
