# Oxygen Diffuser

The Oxygen Diffuser fills the sealed rooms of the submarine with breathable air. A ship with a running diffuser is a submarine: it stays dry at any depth and takes water pressure. Without one, it is a boat.

## Recipe

![Oxygen Diffuser recipe](https://1371052705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FV22FKtcNjWW37kUFLLdR%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-0019b4be74fc8baa5d8ffa3464e27dae5a495b8e%2Foxygene_diffuser.png?alt=media)

## How to use it

1. Pipe oxygen into it from an [Electrolyzer](/create-deep-seas-wiki/deep-seas/air/electrolyzer.md). It holds 1 bucket.
2. Give it a redstone signal.

It bubbles for 5 seconds, then every sealed room of the ship is full of air. You walk instead of swimming, you breathe, and the sea stays out.

## Good to know

* It uses 50 mB of oxygen per second while it runs, whatever the size of the submarine.
* No redstone signal, no air. A lever next to it is the simplest switch.
* If it runs out of oxygen, the submarine goes back to being a boat. A sealed room that has been underwater for two seconds then floods.
* Only one diffuser runs the submarine. A second one on the same ship is a backup and takes over if the first one stops.
* It takes any fluid in the `#c:oxygen` tag, so oxygen from other mods works too.
* Like the Electrolyzer, its model is two blocks tall: nothing can go in the space above it.
* It holds down to 350 m.

**Details to look for**

* When you switch it on, it bubbles for 5 seconds before the air takes, then you stop swimming and walk again.
